Pruning an Apple tree - newbie help!

    Hi,

This is my first post and I'm an absolute beginner gardener despite being 50 so please bear with me.

We've just moved to a new house with an established, if neglected garden and I'd like to find out how to prune my apple tree; I don't think it's been done for a long while. I've read a book on it but it doesn't really cover this situation where there is such neglect.

Is it possible to post a low-res photo on the site for comments, or have I given enough info.

    Thanks

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

Here is a link to a great download-friendly pamphlet about pruning fruit trees. http://eesc.orst.edu/agcomwebfile/ed...00/PNW400.html

Also, Plant Amnesty is a non-profit org. here in Seattle that promotes best pruning practices. They have an excellent pamphlet on how to address neglected apple trees. Check them out on the web at www.plantamnesty.org - you can call/email from there and request the pamphlet.

Good luck and keep posting if you have more questions!
