Silver Maple Brown Leaves / Insects?

I have several (over 15) Silver Maples on my property. This year I have noticed an over abundance of brown spots on leaves. I have also noticed that many of them are peppered with "holes", sometimes lined up in a row like condo's. The holes are usually at eye level. This may be an insect issue and may or may not be related to the brown spots on the leaves. Any insight anyone might have would be usefull.

    Thanks.

    Hi Rob,
Take a look at this site. Click on 'Shade Trees' on the left and go from there.

If that doesn't help and no one else has an answer, contact your local extension service. They would probably know what is active in your area.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
