Tipu tree damaged from winter
I have a few tipu trees that have been planted for about a year and a half now. They got pretty beat up from the frost this winter, however, I live in a hot state. They have some new growth coming in at the base of the trunk, but nothing up top. They are still small, what should I do if anything to help them?

When this happens to me, I take a clean knife and cut the bark back to see if the tree is green and alive. If it's brown, it could be dead at that point. I continue to cut the bark down until I see green. Once you find a spot where your tree is alive, prune at the nearest node above the green area. I hope you understand what I'm saying.
