    transplanting large plumeria

    Hi all,
I have a rather large plumeria planted in the ground that I'd like to take with me when I move. It is about 10 ft high and 10 ft wide. How large of a rootball do I need to preserve for successful transplantation. Additionally, it has a seed pod. How do I know when the seeds are mature. I would like to collect them before the pod opens. I live in St. Pete., FL.
Thanks in advance for your expertise.

    Hi Noless,
I don't know much about them, but these sites should tell you all you need to know.

You might want to take a cutting and try the seeds instead of taking a 10' tree. You would need a VERY large rootball and it will be VERY heavy. You will need lots of help to take a tree that large and might want to consider a pro. Don't forget that you'll probably have to fill the space it's in. If you are selling your home, you will need to tell the prospective buyers that it isn't included in the sale. Here's some sites on transplanting trees.

    Good luck,
