This will be our second year of putting in a rather large garden. For us anyway :0). We live in NE PA. ThOu garden will be about 100 x 100. Not sure if we will use it ALL, but we want it available!

So, we need a tiller. Or at least I think we do! Like I said, this is all new to us and growing up in NYC, well, that has not really laid a good "foundation". KWIM?

So, what kind of "machine" should we look in to? Do I have my terms right! Tiller= large, deep movement of the dirt

Cultivator= smaller jobs to maintain the garden.

We looked into the DR mowers and all-in-ones. Ever hear of these? We don't want to waste money on a useless machine!

    Thanks so much!

I would call around and rent a few to see what you think.* I would recommend a rear tine tiller.

Do you have room to store the tiller?

Yes, we have room. A small barn and a garage on the property.

We thought about renting one since we are so new at gardening. It certainly would be cheaper, but in the long run, it would be a benefit to own one. I don;t even know what one costs! I know it costs about $60 to rent on e for the day. Thanks for your reply.

    Hi Hsmominpa,

I was wondering what you decided to do about a tiller/cultivator?* Did you rent one or purchase one?

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
