I have an Italian Carmen sweet pepper plant that is loaded with nice green fruits. They are supposed to ripen to red. The weather here (SE Mass.) has been abyssmal this June - 20 out of the 26 days so far have had rain and it's been cloudy and cool. My concern is that without strong sunlight the peppers won't turn red. I don't want to pick them early, but I don't want to wait for them to turn red if they're not going to.

Is bright sunshine needed to fully ripen peppers? Or is it just a matter of time?
