An Easy Way to Eliminate Squash Bugs.

It may have been a fluke, but, last season, when we had an infestation of squash bugs (starting again this year ), I accidentally found an effective way to get rid of them. I happened to have a rubber glove on, and, upon encountering lots of the critters on our squash plant, started to methodically smash each one using my thumb and forefinger on either side of the leaves. In other words, I squashed (pun?) the bugs onto the leaves of the plant. After that, we had no more for the rest of the growing season.

This is actually not an uncommon method. As any species decomposes, it emits odors that repel it's own living species from wanting to be in that area. The technique will also help with Japanese Beetles if you start doing it as soon as you see them in your beds.
