I discovered that my New Pot's are covered in white spots all over the tubers and halfway up the roots. They rub off easy. Can you help?

    Hi Gashead,

You don't mention any symptoms on the leaves and I haven't found anything that fits your description.* Take a look at these sites to see if anything fits.

I did a google search with the term:
    white spots on potato

Here's the cached version of this site.

Wish I could be more helpful.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

    Thank you Newt.

The leaves are unaffected, in fact look healthy. Just the lower part of the stem and the tubers are affected. The tiny white spots are fluflfy things. Could they be 'Eelworm' of a type?

No we could not find anything.

We think it was Eelworm. However the leaves have started to show signs of Blight, so we have cut the tops off for now. We have 3 other 8 x 8 Raised beds of potatoes which don't seem to be effected.

Thank you for all your help.

Potato eelworm?* Are you in the UK?* If so, it would be helpful to add that to your profile.

Here's info on potato blight for the UK.
