Unhappy Why do my cucumbers keep dying?

Okay, so I started a garden for the first time. I put in cucumbers, tomatoes, onions so far and have green beans sprouting. My question is this: I have already had to replace 6 of my cucumber plants and now it looks like I may have to replace more. I prepared the bed well, tilled it, added fertilizer, have been watering frequently, all the other plants are doing wonderful. But not my cucumbers, they have been slowly shriveling up and dying on me. Any suggestions?

    Hi Laurig,

Not sure what is going on as there isn't much detail about any discoloration or leaf symptoms, but you mention they are shriveling up, so I'm thinking it might be sclerotinia stem rot.

If your plants are very young, damping off could be the problem.

Any of that sound like what you are seeing?

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

Lauri, please let me know when you find out. I have had the same trouble for two years now! I plant cucumbers, get one or two veggies then they shrivel up, get brown & yellow and just die off. I don't get it! I thought this year aphids got them, but I put so much soap on them and nothing happened. I tried the jet wash that was recommended but that just blew the fragile leaves away.
    Cucumbers are beyond me, apparently!
I'm sorry I didn't answer you but just know that you are not alone on this one!
