How do I handel Tulip bulbs

I have some tulip bulbs from a plant I bought in the grocurie store in the spring of this year. I have kept the bulbs in the soil they came in, I would like to know what to do with them so they will come up again next spring.

    Hi Leeson,
I don't know why I didn't see this earlier, but I'll try and answer your question. Generally tulips that are 'forced' in a pot for sale in the spring don't do well in the ground and often don't bloom again. But, with that said, it's worth a try. I'm hoping that you let the foilage turn yellow before you removed it so it can help to feed the bulb for next years bloom.

I'm wondering if you've been watering it or just let it stay in the soil dry. It would be a good idea to take a look at the bulb(s) to see if they are still firm. If so, you could just wrap it in some newspaper and keep it dry until fall planting time. You don't say where you live, so I can't tell you when that would be. Take a look here.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
