japanese acer

[align=left]i have a japanese acer, in a pot, which is looking distinctly ropey![/align]
[align=left]it was fine for weeks, and now it has developed lighter lines round all the leaves, and light spots on them.[/align]
[align=left]haven't got a CLUE what this could be.* no sign of bugs, but the flaming thing looks as if it is about to keel over![/align]

Hi Sama,

Well, get off that knee and let's see if we can figure this out.* :)* Since this is the container gardening forum, I'm guessing your tree is in a pot.* Pretty good so far, eh?* I'm also thinking you have checked to see if it's rootbound, in full sun, the soil is staying wet or there is a saucer under the pot and water collects in it.* Those could all be causes for the problem.*

Not sure what you mean by "lighter lines round all the leaves".* Can you post a picture?

You used the word "ropey" and I've never heard of that word so I looked it up.* Do you mean droopy?* That can come from overwatering.* If it's been windy that can cause the leaves to be scorched too.* Take a look here.

Sama, glad to know your knee won't be aching.* :)* I forgot to mention to look around that site I gave you for the maples.* Look at the Articles, FAQ's and How To as there is lots of great info there.* Here's their page on growing Japanese maples in containers.

Many people put pebbles and broken pottery in the bottom of containers for drainage.* It's best not to.
