    The Little Lost Tomatoes

    EDIT:: SORRY WRONG THREAD. PLEASE MOVE TO TOMATO THREAD

    I was happily and even a bit nervously potting up my tomatoes from their cells, as their were getting a bit root bound. After they all got into the 4" pots I was done. Yay!!

    I noticed...hmm... that's strange there aren't any labels on the 5" pots

    WAIT I FORGOT TO LABEL THEM!

    Thank goodness it was only two types of tomatoes. One is a Cherry and one if Beefsteak.
    How can I tell which is which? They are not yet flowering or producing.

    They all look the same! Will I just have to wait?

    I think so,,,, I did that one year myself,,,, now I label them before I put the dirt in... It was interesting though seeing which I put where,lol.

    Hi Growing,

    I was thinking of you just last week and wondering how your garden is coming along. I've moved this as a separate thread to the Tomato Gardening forum as you requested.

    I don't know how to tell the difference other then to suggest you label your containers before you put the seeds in the soil. I think most of us have made that same mistake. Once the new ones have grown a couple of sets of leaves look to see which are similar to what you have that are not labeled. You may not be able to tell any differences until the plants get some size and show their growing habit.

    When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

    I was thinking of you too!
    My new seedlings are coming out great. I will get some photos later!

    Since I don't have space for all my plants I decided to use some in sefl-watering and some in normal pots.

    I guess I will have to wait for them to mature. Thanks!

    Wow!! I'm really impressed. That is wonderful what you've accomplished and you should be VERY proud. Have you transplanted any of your plants into the garden yet?

    I did not yet. I've been meaning to start hardening them off.
    I'd be doing that in about 4-5hours... it's very sunny and the temp is above the 90's and the sun would burn the plants

    Is there any way I can transplant them without hardening off?

    I wouldn't take the chance of not having them adjust to the different temps. Maybe you could start with putting them in the shade in the mornings until noon for a few days and slowly put them in sun for longer and longer.

    The plant pictures are very beautiful especially the one with flourescent light. The stand is very artistic and I believe that your plants are coming out fine, especially the tomato and pepper plants.
    I love tomatoes!
