Hi Lucky Lady,
Sorry to hear about your puppy's food preferences!*
That kind of 'pruning' is helpful to some plants and not others.* Here's how to prune an azalea.

*You said, "I checked my plants roots. Definitely needs help there. I have to find some pear moss or mulch to add to my miracle gro soil and a bigger pot. Will have to wait a couple more days-unfortunately.
Is your azalea in a pot or in the ground? Not sure what you mean by the roots needing help.* Is it rootbound in a pot?* If it's in the ground are the roots showing on the surface of the soil?* I'm confused.* It sounds like your azalea is in a pot and needs to be repotted.** Are you asking for help on how to do that?* Here's lots of info on azaleas.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
