    I suspect this is a tropical tree or shrub, possibly an understory plant as the leaves are so large.* I wonder what country it grows in.

    When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

    NTM, did you ever find out what the plant is?* I'm wondering if it could be some type of Clerodendron.
