Beautiful, but what is it?
This plant showed up around our lake this summer. I never planted it, so the birds, cranes, or other wildlife must have brought in the seed. Anyone ever seen this plant before?

This is just a suggestion as I cannot see any flowers to aid id. I believe it may be in the Lamiaceae family. Possibly a Lamium sp. Common name dead nettle. The way the leaves are arranged and the remains of the flowers suggest it. If correct it will have square stems. After the petals have dropped it looks like ...... Google Image Result for http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/28/Lamium_purpureum_1_beentree.jpg Next year it might help if you could add a close up pics of the flowers, to this post. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...%3D40%26um%3D1 Last edited by Silver surfer; 10-30-2009 at 03:55 PM.
