I have a green spikey plant in an above ground planter. It is about 14in. around and has long spikey stems. It sorta looks like a Yucca Plant. Now it has a very long stalk coming up the middle of it. The stalk is about 3 ft.tall and 2in. around. I have been waiting for it to bloom, but it has just grown. Please help me to figure out what this thing is.

    Hi Betty,

I agree with Thomas. Pictures are the only way to tell for certain. Aloe comes to mind as well as Agave.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
