I took a walk along the ditch by the driveway where the day lillies and iris' are....Did not see any stems like you described. Googled the name of the flower and OMG it is gorgeous, gotta get me some of them. I will post a collage of the ditch plants I have later, right now I need to go out and plant a couple things before it gets up to the expected high of 95-yuck.

You wouldn't see the leaves now.* They are long gone.* That's why the name Surprise lily.* The leaves come up early and then disappear in about a month.* The bulbs are large and costly, about $3.00 each!.* If you ever see them in someone's garden you might offer a trade of something for a few.* They do multiply over time.* Mine grow up through my hostas that are in part sun.

I'd love to see the collage.* Don't forget to wear sunscreen.* :)*

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
