    The attached photo is of a plant that reminds me of a conifer, but I do not think it is evergreen. It grows in shady wooded setting in heavy clay. Tends to cluster in groups of hundreds (or more) carpeting large areas.

    When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
