    I*need help ID-ing this plant. It's from a grass field outside Grand Rapids,*MI.*I have 3 pictures. a)the flower coming from the bud (i think),*the flower (again, I think),*and the bulb-like root that smells like garlic.... What is this? Does it have any medicinal or culinary uses? Poisonous? Scientific name? etc...?

    I will say I'm not totally happy with that 'guess'.* I'd suggest you contact your local extension service.* I'm sure it's some type of Allium.

    When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
