This*had no label on it when I found it at the local Target and they don't have a clue.* I can't find any reference to*it anywhere.

I love this plant and would love to find out it's origins and needs,* therefore a name would be really helpful!* It's a beautiful hanging, or* trailing, plant, very vine-like in nature.* The underside of the leaf is a* dark rusty purple and the new growth is a very beautiful light green.

I've tried and tried to propagate it but had no luck.* It will root in water* in about 2 days with a great supply of roots but doesn't seem to be able to* get past that point.* No matter what I do, it dies when I try to plant it.* Now I'm trying to plant a segment intact and see if that'll sprout

Any ideas, anyone?** Thank in advance..** Hotfoot

    Hi Hotfoot,

It looks like blackie sweet potato vine aka Ipomoea batatas 'Blackie'.** Take a look at this post and see if that is what you have.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

That is a Red/Black Sweet Potato vine.* It will do well just about anywherer and you will find the root "potatos" can be dug up and used to start another plant just plant in dirt and watch them grow.* You can get a bright yellow green, the red you have and a pink and light green color.*
