Can anyone help me identify this shrub or small tree? It's located in Ventura, CA and I believe it's zone 10b, about 5 miles east of the coast. Being in a median strip, it gets full sun and probably not a lot of water. Thanks!

Hi Mrs Purple,
Your picture is way too small to tell, but a close up of the flowers and leaves would be helpful.* From the form they remind me of crape myrtle. Scroll through here to see if that could be what you see.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
Thanks for the direction. I did check out the site you recommended, but the flowers on my mystery bush are single, trumpet-shaped, and appear to be single, delicate flowers on the end of each stem. It's a difficult plant to reach since it's in the median of a VERY busy thoroughfare. I was hoping not to risk life and limb if I don't absolutly have to.* :-)* But, I may be getting closer to that. Thanks!
Gosh, I don't want you to end up as road kill, so try askiing these folks.* Do give them the location as you did here and describe the flowers and leaves as best you can.* If possible, enlarge a part of the picture to see if you can get a better view of the flowers.

Please let us know if you find out what it is.
