Hi im not entierly sure about what im looking for... my girlfreind used to have a smallish...

plant that she thinks was a cactus.... i think it started out about the size of a soda can anyways, it was greenish blue she tells me and it was like a bunch of leaves that fold into each other to make kind of a a ball... it was prickly, which made her think if might have been a cactus, and when it needed water it would open up and the leaves would spread out, and then when it got water the leaves would fold back up until it got dry again.... i guess im not giving much information on it but i never saw it personaly, it would make her really happy if i could find her another one, ao any guesses or tips would be greatly appreciated, she told me she bought it at a fleamarket and hasnt seen anything like it since... Help? lol

    Hi Stir Frey,

I'm wondering if you ever found out the name of the plant you were looking for.* From your description, plants that come to mind that grow in a ball shape, have thorns or spines and could be a blue color are Euphorbia or Aeonium.* I don't know of any that fold up when they need water though.* There are hundreds of varieties of both.*

Maranta or Prayer Plant folds it's leaves at night but doesn't grow in a ball shape and doesn't have any thorns or spines.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
