    Hi Gabby,

I envy your mother as I have been unable to grow this plant. It's Arum italicum.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

Thanks so much for replying!! I had a feeling someone here would know..I didn't have a clue..I did some research and sent the info to mom..She'll be thrilled to know what it's called..I was talking to someone else about the plant and they were saying they live in Texas and have never been able to raise this plant either..I think all the rain we've gotten has caused this one to bloom this year. We've had 11 days of rain now..Again thank for taking the time to reply. We appreciate it.Happy gardening..

Gabby, you are so very welcome! I don't know where you live, but I hope it's not where all the flooding is happening in KY and WVa. Here in Maryland we've had alot of rain as well.

Mother and daddy are located just above the mississippi state line in Tennessee.Ever heard of Bufford Pusser?...lol That's where they live.I'm sure you've heard of Mary Winkler.
I was just sitting here listening to the evening news and they were talking about how the farmers are going to be hurting because their fields look like lakes right now.We haven't hit flood stage but the some of the fields are under water.I think the rain's about to clear out though.I told my dad when it stopped raining we'd be wishing we had some more than likely..

Bufford Pusser I've heard of, but I had to look up Mary Winkler. I must be 'out of the loop' of current events.

My heart aches fo the people effected by the flooding.

    Stay warm and dry!
