Hi, Everyone...

I'm new and stuck on a bush in my back yard (San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles). I had cut it back to the ground*a year and a half ago*but it came back and now I'm trying to decide whether to keep it or not. Any ideas what it might be? Thanks in advance.

This looks like a paper mulberry to me, only nps.gov indicates it's a southeastern invasive plant. I've seen paper mulberry many times in wetlands and mesic hammocks in our Florida state forests, as well as on old homesteads.

I see from one of these links below that it's also invasive in Hawaii, though. The first link has some methods of destroying it if you can't just dig it out.

Please check to see if this is the plant that's in your yard. It looks like it to me, but I'm on the east coast and not that familiar with things that grow in your area.
