Question PLease help identify this plant or palm or whatever this is... LOL

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum and this is my very first post. Thought I'd get to this quick as it's been bugging me for weeks now.

Please help me identify this plant. I was at my local orchid nursery and the owner was just going on and on about these plants and mentioned that they are rare. He says they were shipped here to Miami, FL in error and that they came from California. All I remember him saying is that it was dwarf or miniature and that it was a palm of some sort and that its very expensive. He said the leaves would open soon and start to shred or divide into strips. Since it would be costly to have them sent back to Cali, he opted to keep them and says he paid $10.00 a piece. He wanted to get rid of them as he said and sold it to us for $20.00. Mind you, we paid this much because we really thought they were rare.

Can anyone please identify this plant and if you have any info on the value that would be great as well.

Thanks guys and I look forward to making some new friends here.

    Terry

    Hi Terrycrz,

Since the nursery where you made the purchase is local, why not call him and ask him for a botanical name or at least a common name we can use to search with. I'm sure the receipt he got from the delivery must have some type of name.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
