"Stinging Grass"

My friend went to Denmark a few years ago and apparently there was a plant that looked like grass that, when you touched, made your skin come out in welts. It couldn't be a thistle or a nettle because the effect was not instantaneous. Could you please help me out? I can't find anything on the internet and Encyclopedia Britannica is trying to make me join before I can use it.
