Hi, this weekend we bought a tropical-type tree at a discount store, it is really nice, but we have no idea what it could be. We were mostly wondering so we could see how to properly care for it. Thanks so much for your help!

    Hi Flanman,

That is a Dracaena aka corn plant.* It's not related to corn but the all green version seems to remind people of corn.* I suspect yours is Dracaena fragrantissima.* Possibly Dracaena fragrantissima 'Massangeana'.* Here's a pic.

Here's how to care for them.

    Btw, they're lovely.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
