Is that the flower in bloom?* If not, can you post another picture with the flower in bloom?

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
The head never seems to change just a few have sparse white petals on the edge of the soft* fuzzy spiked pod........ the filiments on the pod are a*soft orangey color.
I'm at a loss here.* The leaves remind me of wild geranium, but not the flower.* I would suggest you post the pictures at this botanical gardens forum and ask them.* When you register add your state and hardiness zone and let them know if the leaves are hairy.

They are pointing to the geum family..........however I can't find one that the pod head looks frilly like mine, spikey I see, soft and frilly I don't. The leaf structure does look similiar..........but they talk about extensive root systems and mine has minimal root system, rather shallow??
Hmm, Geum is in the rose family.* I think yours might be a wild species.* Have you looked at pics of all of these?
