Unknown lovely plant - please help

Hi all, would anyone be able to tell me the name of this plant?
I got a slip of it in Germany 15 years ago. It grew really well for me, but in the last year the leaves have become stunted and shrivelled, and the stalks are becoming very wooden. Would anyone have any recommendations on how to revive it? I'd be very grateful for any thoughts

    Welcome rosaleengreen.
It looks like a species of Begonia. There are hundreds of different ones, with many different leaves and flowers.

I would do what you did 15 years ago and start a new plant. They are very easy from cuttings. Just google Begonia cuttings, or Begonia leaf cuttings.
You can even get several new plants from one single leaf.

Thank you Silver surfer. I'm delighted now to know what it is, and I'll check those sites you recommended so that I can give it some revitalising care and attention.
    Many thanks and best wishes.

    Another suggestion.
Prune your plant hard back. It will regrow from the bottom. Use the prunings to do cuttings.
May be the soil is exhausted and stale. Repotting in fresh compost may help.
Check for bugs on the plant and in soil... just incase.
    Good luck!
