Well, at least I know it's a squash!

I bought this plant at the grocery store because it was labeled "squash" and nothing else. I'm the curious sort and just had to know what it was. Well I STILL don't know what it is! I live in east Texas. This plant and squash are both covered with a fine prickly white fuzz that itches when I get it on my hands, moreso than with other squashes or pumpkins. Other than that and the unusual-looking squash, there is nothing particularly remarkable about it. I tried posting it on FB, but no one there knew what it was.

There are 100's of different Squashes!
Check out Benincasa hispida.
Common name Waxed gourd, Waxed gourd melon, Hairy Gourd, Haired Gourd, Fuzzy Gourd, Fuzzy Squash, Winter melon.etc
Maybe this is it.

Thanks. That might be it - guess I'll have to wait and see if it loses its fuzz and becomes waxy. I hope it is. I think I could become immortal based on the description. :D
