    What kind of plant is this?

    One of my friends has a very wierd looking plant in thier bathroom.

    It has a wierd habbit of loosing all the leaves and afterwards getting new ones.

    That is actually what has happended on the picture.

    Anyone with a clue to what plant this is ?:)

    Welcome Mali.
    Please could you say where in the world you are.That may be very relevant. Maybe your friend picked up a local seed and planted it. Or,maybe it is a plant local to your part of the world.

    I am not familiar with this plant. It has a very unusual leaf. The only similar one I could find on www were for a very large tropical tree.

    If it is something rather big and exotic, it may be VERY unhappy being confined to a very small pot, with not a great depth of soil. It does look rather a sad specimen.

    I would recommend transplanting it to a bigger pot with deep rich compost.

    In the meantime, hopefully someone else can id it for you. Sorry not to be able to help more than this.

    It is a Jatropha podagrica or Buddha Belly Plant. Someone else identified it for me :) Thanks thou

    Thank you for posting back with the name Jatropha podagrica. Buddha belly plant describes it so well as it matures!
