This plant was abandoned by a neighbor in North Mississippi. It onlly had the stem and one small leaf right in the top. I brought it home, repotted it and it has grown this much since mid June. However I have no idea what this is. I don't recall ever seeing one. Can anyone help me identify this unknown???

Hi Sandraj,
I'm wondering if this was a shrub and did it grow outdoors?* Have you ever seen them growing in the ground?* Do you know if it gets flowers?
I can't quite tell from the picture, but is the stalk a cane like you would see on a Dracaena?
It reminds me of Prunus laurocerasus, possibly the dwarf Prunus laurocerasus 'Otto Lyuken' aka Otto Lyuken laurel.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

Off the top of my head, it looks like what we call a Japanese Plum here in New Orleans.
In my opinion it is a Loquat Tree. Also called a Nispero tree. (Eriobotrya japonica)
Take a look on google images and see if the pics match your plant.
edit: Seeing now that youre in nothern MS, Im even more convinced that its a loquat.
