What is this simple looking plant?

I live near Birmingham, AL, and this has cropped up underneath the pine trees and near white hydrangeas. Is it a Weed, or should I save it? There are many of them.

I think that it is a sassafras albidum tree. It is found in the eastern US. The leaves look identical to one on another website.

    Hi Glperryz,

    I agree with Sassafras.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
