I grow cilantro in a pot on my windowsill for use in cooking. The seeds germinate very quickly, but the plants seem to die off after only a few weeks, so I have to keep planting new crops. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

Cilantro is a very short lived plant when grown in warm conditions. You might find this helpful.

I had no idea that the plants live for just a couple of weeks.

I too thought it was just me, so I pretty much gave up on trying to plant cilantro.  Guess I'll give it another try (especially the heat tolerant, Mexican, variety).

Hi TN Gardener,

People are often so relieved to know that it's the cilantro and not them, and then they're disappointed that it doesn't live longer.  Glad you iknow you'll try again.

Yep. I'll try again.  I guess I'll just plant several seeds at a time and plant them every week or so throughout the spring & summer.
