Late Blight is hitting again!
http://www.bing.com/news/search?q=to...ight&FORM=BNFD - news on where it is hitting
Last year the late blight hit my tomatoes hard and fast. I had not heard of this problem previously so I didn't take any action to prevent it. This year I have been actively spraying with a copper fungicide and so far it seems to be working.
I noticed that several gardens in my area have wilted plants staying out for weeks on end. Please folks - if your plants are sick - destroy them by burning, or pull them up and bag them tightly then leave the bag out in the sun to get hot before disposing.
The blight can be carried through the atmosphere, and by animals to your neighbors gardens. In the atmosphere it can travel for 40 miles or more.
There is no way to stop the blight once your plants are infected. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9A09WRrLAg
