I have two peony plants that are planted in a bad spot and only receive morning sun. I'm scared to move them because I've read the roots are brittle and that peonies don't like to be disturbed. Please advise me on how to move them. Seems to me that they are supposed to be placed in the soil a certain depth too. Any help is appreciated. As always, thanks from Coralbelle.

There are two basic types of peony.* One is the tree peony and has twiggy stems and the other is the herbaceous peony.* It dies to the ground in the winter.* I'm thinking you have herbaceous peonies.* Here's a great site with lots of info.* Best to move them in early fall to give their roots time to establish.* They don't do well transplanted in spring.
