I have seen this tree or overgrown shrub growning in*"green" area in Kitchener Ontario.* It is very lovely, however I have no clue what it is.* I think it may be an overgrown shrub that some one has dumped.**It is about 10 feet tall and there seems to be multiple stems growing from the base,* the leaves are very fine needle-like and the ends of each branch are very pretty pink colour.* They have been this pink colour for over a month and some are now starting to fade to*green.* It is willowy and after a heavy rain the branches will hang very low.* Normally the branches are quite upright.* I would lke to find out what this is so I can add it to my own yard.* Many thanks

    Hi Kjrooster,

Your picture is a bit blurry for me and there aren't any closeups, but it reminds me of Tamarix aka salt cedar.* There are several different species of this large shrub or small tree.* Here's Tamarix ramosissima, is this what you see?

Before you plant it please read here why it's called salt cedar.* You may decide you don't want it in your garden.* I couldn't find any info that it was considered an invasive where you are in Kitchener Ontario, Canada.

In the western US this is an invasive species and should never be planted.
