On my property I have a shelter belt that contains American Elms. The trees were planted between rows of faster growing trees and as a result they didn't recieve enough sunlight to grow well and at 30+ years of age they are only 5-7 feet tall, but very healthy and attractive looking. I was wondering if I transplated these trees in a more suitable location would they grow? I've moved larger trees than this, but they were not nearly as old. So does anyone think this will work, or would it be a waste of time?
