    Thundercloud Tree

I planted this gorgeous tree last year and it's doing well. My concern is the middle is growing fast and the lower wider branches aren't catching up yet. Can I prune the top so the rest will fill in, and look rounded? If I can how do I do this without hurting the tree?

    Hi Tacosmom,

What's a Thundercloud tree? I suspect that is the named variety. What species of tree is this?

Can I prune the top so the rest will fill in, and look rounded?
No, that's not how corrective pruning is done. What you are considering is called 'topping' and deforms the tree. Can you post a picture of your tree?
