What is this plant with tiny orange flowers?

Someone at work received this potted plant as a gift and we are wondering what it is. The flowers are bright orange and about an inch or smaller.

    Welcome Suseart.

This is just a suggestion. You will need to compare the open flowers on yours with the links I add. The 3rd link has some amazing pics... scroll down past others for the O. dubium.
Check out Ornithogalum dubium. Common name snake flower, or Sun Star.

Thank you Silver Surfer, that's it! I especially love the third link, and I'll share it with my friend who received the plant. The snake flower looks exactly it.

Excellent. Did you read the start of 3rd link.

Quote........."All three of the plants discussed in this article are cut-flowers purchased at a tiny “boutique” flower shop located in a large shopping mall in Toronto. Florists sometimes refer to the three, tongue in cheek, as “florist’s nightmares”, since they often last for months when the cut stems are placed in water."

Your friend should be very happy to receive such a colourful gift.

That's too funny! She really will like that because up till now the longest she's had cut flowers for her desk is 2 wks- that's when I bring her Alstroemeria from my garden, and she is shocked they last that long...thanks again, I emailed her the info this morning!
