    Training your Hibiscus to grow

Last summer I loved having a hibiscus, so I brought it indoors over the winter. This was very sucecessful and with a little pruning of the branches that did die, it looks good and is blooming. The problem is that it has grown like a paper fan, completely flat outward to the left and right. The branches don't go in all directions and it is becoming unbalanced. Does anyone know how to stimulate the branches to grow towards the front and back of the plant?

Since no one knows, maybe I should just prune the branches off the sides and hope that new ones grow from the front and back.
