I hate fall, even the trees' start to turn on you! Landfills are up to the summit in yard waste mainly leaves from a bad fall, not from, I've fallen and I can't get up! type of fall, but the autumn fall. I thought about a solution several years ago and I came up with the perfect answer to my yard waste. I have two choices, one is to not rake the yard and hope the winter winds will blow most of the leaves and dead branches into the neighbor's yard. The second one is, I pile the leaves in the back of the pickup truck and cover them with a tarp. I drive to a treeless neighborhood and remove the tarp from around the tailgate about a foot or so and drive back and forth until the truck bed is empty. The leaves blow out and into the treeless neighbor’s yards. I usually do this under the cover of darkness. The next morning the treeless neighborhood awakens to the smell of newly fallen leaves. Look! They didn't even have to attend to the raking or pruning or feeding or watering or raking, (ooh sorry I already mentioned raking). The smells of fall will bring happy-ness to that treeless neighborhood. So why don't WE, the treed property owners share with our treeless neighbors. I feel fulfilled and I've helped the environment by not letting that yard waste pile up in a dump somewhere. Now if I can only get rid of the tree branches? Where is a beaver when you need them?
