: I bought a potted Rosemary a month ago. I have it in the house, and it is turning brown. What do I do with it until Spring. I live in Zone 5, and have a cold winter. God love ya, you picked a doozie. rosemary is one of my favorite herbs, but it is difficult. it is not reliably hardy where i live, but there is a variety called ARP that is supposed to be the most tolerant to cold. all the books say that rosemary doesn't like a lot of water, i've found the opposite to be the case when i grow it indoors. i water mine almost every day. once you see that the leaves have started to lose their bright green color and become crisp, you've practically lost it. cut it back to good growth, and step up the watering. it does like a sweet soil, so add a little limestone, if you have some. personally, i consider rosemary as an annual. i buy a few in the spring, grow them on, harvest what i want, say a prayer, and hope for a mild winter. good luck, and enjoy
