: I am on my second oregano plant. My first died and now this one is almost dead. What could I be doing wrong? It is in a container and the leaves keep drying up and turning black on the tips. I water it but not too much and have put fetilizer on it once... I've only had it about 2 weeks. Any tips?
My sympathies to you. where are you buying these plants, go and ask them what the deal is. does the pot have a drainage hole? it should. full sun, but not left out in it to broil? don't fertilize a plant that is stressed , it's a waste of time and fertilizer. personally, i don't grow it. dried oregano really has it all over the fresh stuff. as it dries enzymes and other chemicals in the leaves break downand reform to give us that familiar flavor that we want on pizza, and in gravy, or baked with clams or chicken. save your gardening time for the herbs that are really best fresh:basil, cilantro, dill, parsley. good luck, and enjoy
