problems with my sage

: I planted my sage from seed about 4 weeks ago into a clay pot. So far, I have a number of plants about 3 to 4 inches tall. However, they are being eaten alive! I don't know exactly which insects are helping themselves but I would appreciate any suggestions for stopping this problem without the use of pesticides, as I am interested in organic gardening.
