: I planted my sage from seed about 4 weeks ago into a clay pot. So far, I have a number of plants about 3 to 4 inches tall. However, they are being eaten alive! I don't know exactly which insects are helping themselves but I would appreciate any suggestions for stopping this problem without the use of pesticides, as I am interested in organic gardening.

Hi Andy,
It's best to know what exactly is eating your sage, but rinsing the leaves with cold water would be my first thought. Then an insecticidal soap would be my next defense. Here's some sites you might find helpful along the way since you are interested in organic gardening.

Hope this helped,
