My house was built in the middle of a 100 year old walnut orchard. They are the messiest tree's I've ever experienced! Leaves bloom late June, early July buds are falling to the ground. From late July through September, walnuts and leaves fall to the ground. By August, most of the leaves have fallen to the ground along w/ the branch of the leaves which turns brittle in the fall. This is just my personal opinion, but I would never buy a house w/ walnut tree's again. Granted, I have 8 tree's in my yard alone, I guess I could cut them down but I love the shade. Also, black walnut trees are slightly toxic. I just found out through web searching that there are many trees, plants, & vegetables that can not grow near the roots of these trees. I only wish I knew this information before I spend so much time and money trying to figure out why I couldn't grow a decent garden. Michelle
