hosta not growing

I hope someone can help me. I have 5 hostas in a semi circle in my front yard. They get morning sun. Two of them are much, much smaller than the other 3 and I can't understand why. They are about 8 to 10 feet from the larger ones and in the same bed, so the soil should be the same. Do I need to fertilize the smaller ones? What should I use? Any other suggestions as to what would help them grow? Thanks for your help.
