potted hostas

I puschased four beautiful huge hosta plants last summer and I didn't think to bring the pots indoor for wintering. Did I kill these beautiful plants by leaving them outside in pots? Should I just throw them away or is there hope? I live in Virginia and we had a pertty mild winter but I see no new growth emerging!
