: Hi, I am writing from Brisbane, Australia so it is early autumn 30C and humid most days.

: I have a palm tree (don't know the species) about 4' high with broad varigated leaves approx. 6" at there widest and maybe 15" long.

: The plant seems to be very happy with new leaves shooting regularly however the older leaves are getting holes in them, splitting and drooping.

: No obvious bugs and I give the plant a thorough watering once a week, a weak fertiliser every second week.

: Any ideas?

: Thanks, Trevor

Hi Trevor,

Most palm trees lose their lower leaves as they grow. Is it possible that it's just the aging of the plant? Take a look at this site and see if it's helpful.

Good luck,
